Marico reported a healthy performance in the September quarter, with consolidated revenue from operations rising 13% year-on-year to ₹3,897 crore. The company also recorded a 31% increase in net profit to ₹550 crore, supported by strong volume growth in India and international markets.
The maker of Parachute coconut oil and Saffola products continued to benefit from demand across its key categories. Its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 27% to ₹709 crore. The EBITDA margin improved by 200 basis points to 18.2%, reflecting better operating performance and a favourable product mix.
However, the company remains watchful of rising input costs and geopolitical uncertainty. Marico has flagged concerns over the possible impact of tensions in West Asia, higher energy prices and inflation on its business and consumer demand.
Marico managing director and chief executive Saugata Gupta said consumer demand remained resilient despite an uncertain operating environment. The company is closely monitoring developments in West Asia, particularly the impact of energy prices on transportation, supply chains and production costs.
Higher food, edible oil and fuel prices have contributed to inflationary pressures. While copra prices have eased from the multi-year highs recorded last year, other food-linked derivatives and vegetable oils have become more expensive. Marico said it would rely on its established brands, pricing strength and cost-management measures to deal with the pressure.
The company is not currently building a sharp rise in crude prices into its outlook for the next six months, but will continue to monitor the situation. It is also assessing whether sustained high fuel prices and uneven rainfall could affect household spending, particularly in rural markets.
India remained a key growth driver during the quarter. Revenue from the domestic business increased 10% year-on-year to ₹2,916 crore, supported by underlying volume growth of 10%. Demand for core hair-care products remained healthy, while foods and premium personal care businesses continued to expand.
More than 95% of Marico’s business either gained or sustained market share and penetration on a moving annual total basis, according to the company. Both traditional and organised trade channels recorded double-digit growth, while quick commerce also delivered faster growth.
Its flagship Parachute coconut oil brand registered 13% volume growth, its strongest performance in 22 quarters. The brand accounts for around 34% of Marico’s India revenue. However, revenue growth was limited to about 1%, partly due to the impact of earlier price reductions following a moderation in copra costs. The company said Parachute also gained more than 570 basis points in volume market share, taking its share to 60%.
The value-added hair oils portfolio recorded 21% value growth for the sixth consecutive quarter. Marico’s foods business, which includes Saffola oats, True Elements, 4700 BC, Cosmix and Plix, grew 45%. Its annualised revenue run-rate crossed ₹1,500 crore, with an improved product mix and a greater focus on profitability supporting the performance.
The company is also expanding its presence in premium personal care and digital-first brands. Its premium personal care portfolio crossed an annualised revenue run-rate of ₹500 crore, while the digital-first business reached approximately ₹1,150 crore. Marico expects foods and premium personal care, including digital-first brands, to contribute around 27% of its India revenue by the end of FY27, compared with 23% in FY26.
A major part of this expansion strategy is its investment in Satiya Nutraceuticals, the company behind health and wellness brand The Plant Fix, or Plix. Marico acquired an additional 24.09% stake in the business for ₹1,012.03 crore in October, taking its total holding to 84.09%.
The company has agreed to acquire the remaining 14.09% stake in a subsequent tranche, targeted for July 2027. The Plix acquisition strengthens Marico’s presence in nutrition, wellness and personal care, while giving it a larger share of the fast-growing digital-first consumer market.
International operations also delivered growth, recording a 13% increase in constant-currency terms. Vietnam, the Middle East and North Africa, and South Africa were among the markets contributing to the performance. Marico expects international growth to accelerate in the second half of FY27.
Looking ahead, the company expects revenue growth in the teens during FY27 and aims to comfortably cross ₹15,000 crore in annual revenue. It has raised its EBITDA growth expectation to the mid-20% range, from around 20% earlier.
Marico has also advanced its long-term ambition of reaching ₹20,000 crore in revenue from FY30 to FY29. The target reflects its focus on strengthening established brands while building newer businesses in foods, premium personal care and digital-first categories.
