Digital healthcare platform Practo has appointed Jagnoor Singh as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a leadership transition at the Bengaluru-based company as it prepares for its next phase of growth.
Founder Shashank ND Singh, who previously served as CEO, has moved into the expanded role of Managing Director and Executive Chairman. The changes took effect on September 1, 2026, according to the company.
Jagnoor Singh, who joined Practo as Chief Operating Officer in January 2025, will now oversee the company’s overall strategy, growth and operations across its global markets. His appointment comes as Practo expands its presence outside India and looks to build its consumer and business healthcare operations.
Shashank will continue to guide Practo’s broader vision, product direction and strategy. His new responsibilities include long-term innovation, capital strategy, potential acquisitions and other corporate development initiatives.
The leadership change separates the company’s day-to-day execution from its longer-term strategic direction. Jagnoor will focus on running and expanding the business, while Shashank will continue to shape the company’s larger roadmap.
The move comes at a time when Practo says it is growing at around 40% year-on-year and has remained profitable for more than two and a half years. The company is also expanding its consumer platform into international markets such as the UAE and the United States.
Jagnoor brings more than a decade of experience across technology, consumer internet and telecom businesses. Before joining Practo, he held senior roles at Bharti Airtel, Unacademy and OYO.
At Practo, he has spent close to two years working on growth strategy, operational execution and expansion into new markets. The company said his experience in these areas will be important as it moves into its next stage of international growth.
The CEO appointment is also part of a wider restructuring of Practo’s senior leadership team.
Practo co-founder Siddhartha Nihalani has taken on the additional role of Chief Operating Officer for the company’s business-to-consumer operations. He will oversee the consumer side of the platform as Practo expands its reach in India and overseas.
Rowel Coelho, who previously headed monetisation, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer for the business-to-business division. His responsibilities will include the company’s enterprise and corporate businesses.
Another key change is the appointment of co-founder Abhinav Lal as Chief Scientist. Lal will focus on research and the development of new applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
The company is increasingly looking at AI as a key part of its future technology strategy. The new chief scientist role is expected to focus on research partnerships, emerging technologies and applications that could improve healthcare delivery.
Practo said the expanded leadership structure is intended to strengthen its ability to innovate while continuing to scale its existing products and services.
The company’s international expansion is another major priority under the new structure. Practo has been increasing its presence in markets beyond India, with the UAE and the US among the markets identified for its consumer platform.
The company operates a healthcare technology platform that connects patients with doctors and other healthcare providers. Its services cover areas including doctor consultations, appointments, diagnostics and other healthcare-related services.
Practo said its platform now has more than 700,000 doctors and healthcare providers in its network and serves millions of patients globally.
The leadership reshuffle comes as the healthtech sector continues to evolve, with digital healthcare companies increasingly combining online services, data and artificial intelligence.
Practo’s new structure reflects that changing landscape. While Jagnoor takes charge of business execution and international operations, Shashank’s continued involvement will centre on product strategy, innovation, capital allocation and long-term growth.
The company’s financial position also gives context to the transition. Practo has said it has maintained profitability for more than two and a half years while continuing to grow its business.
The company has also been linked to plans for a possible public listing. Reports have said Practo is evaluating an IPO as it expands, although the company has not publicly confirmed a definitive listing timeline.
For Jagnoor, the new role puts him at the centre of Practo’s next growth cycle after less than two years as COO. His immediate focus will include strengthening operations, expanding into new markets and translating the company’s longer-term plans into business growth.
Shashank, meanwhile, will remain closely involved in the company he co-founded 18 years ago. His move to executive chairman does not mark an exit from Practo. Instead, the new position gives him a broader strategic role while handing operational leadership to Jagnoor.
The company expects the expanded leadership team to help it scale internationally, strengthen its position across the healthcare ecosystem and build more AI-led products.
With the new structure now in place, Practo is entering its next phase with a clearer division of responsibilities: Jagnoor Singh leading the business as CEO, while Shashank ND Singh continues to guide its long-term vision as Managing Director and Executive Chairman.
