Apple HomeView brings AI to connected homes

Apple launches HomeView in India at ₹39,900, featuring a 7-inch display, Siri AI, FaceTime and smart home controls, with sales starting November 13.

Apple is expanding its presence in the smart home market with HomeView, a new connected device that brings entertainment, video calling and home automation into a single screen. Launched in India on October 13, the smart display combines Apple’s upgraded Siri AI assistant with personalised services and controls for compatible smart home accessories.

Priced at ₹39,900, Apple HomeView marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to make its ecosystem a more central part of everyday household life. The device is designed to help users manage their homes, stay connected with family members and access personal information without having to reach for their iPhones.

Pre-orders opened on October 13, with sales scheduled to begin on November 13. Apple is offering both a tabletop model and a wall-mounted version at the same price, giving consumers the flexibility to place the device on a counter or install it in spaces such as hallways and entrances.

The launch also reflects Apple’s broader push into connected home technology, where it competes with established products from Amazon and Google. By combining hardware, artificial intelligence and integration with its existing devices, Apple is looking to make its smart home ecosystem more useful for households.

HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone technology, which adjusts the screen’s appearance for comfortable viewing in different lighting conditions. Its compact design includes an adjustable stand, while the wall-mounted version is intended for users who prefer a fixed home control panel.

The device is available in four colours: silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. Its display can show photos, calendars, weather updates and other information, allowing it to function as both a digital picture frame and a household information hub.

Siri AI brings personalised assistance

A key feature of HomeView is its integration with Apple’s upgraded Siri AI assistant, which is designed to handle more natural voice requests and provide personalised responses. Users can ask Siri for information, discover music, manage reminders and interact with supported services.

The device can recognise up to six people through facial recognition and tailor the experience to each household member. When paired with a compatible iPhone or iPad, it can display personal information such as messages, calendar entries and reminders while keeping individual content separate.

Apple has also placed privacy at the centre of the product. The HomeView’s A18 chip uses dedicated secure processing capabilities to handle facial and voice recognition, helping protect sensitive information. The company says this processing is designed to prevent camera and microphone data from being exposed to the operating system or accessed by Apple.

Siri AI is initially available in English in supported markets, including India. Its availability and capabilities may vary depending on the user’s device, software and region.

Smart home control and entertainment

HomeView is designed to act as a central dashboard for compatible smart home accessories. Users can adjust lighting and temperature, manage supported locks and view connected security cameras through Apple’s Home app.

The device can display multiple camera feeds, with support for viewing up to nine streams simultaneously. It can also help users monitor activity around their homes and receive relevant notifications on compatible Apple devices.

For entertainment, HomeView supports music playback, video viewing and FaceTime calls. Its 12-megapixel Center Stage camera keeps users in the frame as they move during video calls, while its microphones and speakers are designed to deliver clear voice interactions and room-filling audio.

Apple is also expanding the range of compatible accessories through partnerships with companies including LG and Schneider Electric. The broader connected-home offering includes products such as security cameras, video doorbells, smart locks and thermostats, helping users connect devices from different parts of their homes.

Apple expands its connected home lineup

HomeView is part of a wider product push that includes an updated HomePod mini and a new Apple TV 4K. Together, the devices are intended to bring Siri AI and improved smart home integration to different parts of the household.

The HomePod mini 2 is priced at ₹18,900 in India, with sales scheduled to begin on October 30. The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, priced at ₹39,900, is scheduled to become available on November 13. It features Apple’s A19 chip and brings updated performance and voice-control capabilities to home entertainment.

The expansion comes as Apple seeks to build new growth opportunities beyond smartphones and computers. A more connected home could encourage customers to use more Apple services and accessories while strengthening the value of owning multiple devices within the same ecosystem.

However, the company faces competition from Amazon’s Echo Show range and Google’s smart home products, which already offer voice assistance, home controls and connected entertainment. HomeView’s relatively high price could also influence its appeal among consumers comparing smart displays.

Its success will depend on how effectively Siri AI performs in everyday use, how easily the device works with compatible accessories and whether users find enough value in its personalised features and privacy protections.

With HomeView, Apple is betting that a shared household screen, combined with AI assistance and seamless integration across its products, can make smart home technology more practical for Indian consumers.
